A pair of camps featuring a week of science experiments, robotics, video game design and drone programming return to the Osoyoos community this summer.
But if you’re keen to register your science-minded adolescent, you need to act quickly.
iLearning Canada Science and Technology Camps will be held at the Sonora Community Centre July 30 to August 3. Registration is open for both camps through noon on July 13.
The program will be canceled if the minimum required number of participants is not met.
Two sessions are being offered — one for youth aged seven to nine, the second for youth aged 10 to 14.
The Summer Science & Technology Camp 1 for seven- to nine-year-olds will allow youngsters to “discover the art of magic and illusions, explore the wonderful world of science and dive into the basics of programming through various applications.”
The older cohort of participants will “explore the mysteries of science, build and program robots using the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 kits, learn how to pilot a drone as well as design their very own video game.”
The youngsters will take home “cool” science experiments everyday and by the end of the week will have their very own video game to take home as well.
The camps will run 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day with a break for lunch and game time outside.
The cost for each session is $140.
The camps are sponsored in part by the Osoyoos Rotary Club.
