OES students showcase diversity, build community with Identity Day

How do you build a Nighthawk?

You start with a smidge of hockey player, throw in a budding naturalist, a swimmer or two and even a bookworm.

That’s what we discovered when we attended Osoyoos Elementary School’s Identity Day today. The event allowed students from K to 7 to express their individuality while providing the teaching moment that every student is part of something bigger — the Nighthawk community.

What an inspiration — wouldn’t it be wonderful for us adults to engage in the same community-building exercise?
