Spring in Osoyoos means that we start to see the much welcome early blossoms and it also means that the Soroptimist Spring Fashion Show is around the corner.
This year is the sixth annual event being held on Saturday at the Watermark Beach Resort, beginning at 9 a.m.
“The event is run by all volunteers and the support for the Fashion Show from the local business community has again been wonderful,” said Liz Ganton, co-president of the local Soroptimist group.
Silent Auction and door prizes are generously donated by area businesses and the participating fashion show stores and models provide the entertainment.
Saturday’s show will see Valanne Style, Cheeks Wear, Lady Chaddertons, Strike the Pose, Unity Clothing, Oliver Shoes & Fashion, Shoe Biz, Wander Café, Fields, and the United Church Thrift Shop on the runway.
Jody Chadderton, owner of Lady Chadderton’s on Main Street will be joining in on the fun this weekend for her fifth Soroptimist Fashion Show which includes the winter event called Step up to Christmas.
“Seeing everyone out and enjoying the latest fashions,” Jody says is what keeps her coming back. Jody shared that guests will be sure to see some florals on the runway as they are a big thing this year.
The event is lots of fun and features the new trends and fashion, but it also has an important purpose as the Soroptimist International of Osoyoos is a nonprofit organization that has been raising funds for 32 years for programs in our area.
Funds raised by the group go to support Desert Sun Counselling and Resource Centre, the Muffin Program at both the Osoyoos Elementary and High Schools, the Osoyoos Foodbank, career counselling for young women, Safe Teen program and many others.
The Soroptimists also provide bursary and scholarship opportunities available each year.
