Osoyoos RCMP are investigating a single-vehicle MVA Friday that left the vehicle upside-down and half-submerged in an oxbow on Road 22 east of Hwy. 97.
The incident occurred just before 1 p.m. about 150 metres east of the Osoyoos Oxbows trailhead parking lot. It resulted in the closing of Road 22 for about an hour as emergency personnel extracted the vehicle from the water.
Two occupants of the vehicle managed to escape; however a trio of pets was not as fortunate.
“One dog passed away and a pig passed away,” said Cst. Jody Rausch. “There might have been another dog that passed away.”
RCMP are looking for a male occupant of the vehicle who left the accident scene before RCMP arrived.
Cst. Rausch could not confirm if the man was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.
The Oliver Fire Department, Osoyoos RCMP and BC Ambulance were on scene for the accident.
