DO moves visitor services
to Watermark location

The community’s Visitor Information Centre will set up shop at the Watermark Beach Resort this weekend through an agreement involving Destination Osoyoos and Okanagan Adventures Ltd.

Darlene Richard, Marketing Director with Destination Osoyoos, said the move was made to provide a more central and prominent location for the busy Information Centre and to take advantage of staffing provided by Okanagan Adventures.

“We have two summer students coming aboard and working alongside [Okanagan Adventures]. We are sharing space with them.”

Okanagan Adventures staff will also receive training to better deliver Destination Osoyoos services.

The existing Destination Osoyoos office, located further west on Main Street, will administer the society’s tourism and economic development operations.

Ms. Richard said the more central location will likely mean an increase in visitor traffic. Last year, Destination Osoyoos provided services to about 2,000 visitors.

Those visits are logged and later analyzed for demographic purposes.

Destination Osoyoos also provides tourism information through its website ( and on its Facebook page (

The summer students, hired as tourism ambassadors, also visit with visitors within the community.
