Osoyoos is looking for a new school trustee.
Trustee June Harrington quietly submitted her letter of resignation last month. It will take effect once a trustee by-election is complete and the new trustee has taken oath of office.
The Okanagan Similkameen School District (SD53) is expected to begin that process on Thursday. That would mean nominations would be accepted between Sept. 14 and Sept. 30 and a by-election held November 5.
The elected trustee would then serve on the Board of Education until the 2018 General School Election.
Ms. Harrington was one of three SD53 trustees who voted against closing Osoyoos Secondary School earlier this year.
Ms. Harrington, along with Board Chair Marieze Tarr, was acclaimed to office in 2008, 2011 and 2014.
