Paramedics among victims of head-on collision

RCMP charge Osoyoos man with driving without licence

Two paramedics were among the victims of a head-on collision involving an ambulance around 7 p.m. March 10.

Osoyoos RCMP reported the ambulance, travelling south on Hwy. 97 near 128 St., was struck by a vehicle driven by an Osoyoos man. The second vehicle, travelling north, failed to negotiate a curve “due to speed” and crossed the centre line.

The ambulance did not have any patients onboard.

All four people involved in the accident — including the two paramedics, the driver of the other vehicle and a passenger — were taken to South Okanagan General Hospital in Oliver. Injuries were minor and all involved were treated and released.

The 21-year-old driver of the second vehicle faces charges of driving without a licence and driving without due care. Both vehicles sustained considerable damage.
