Juno winner slated to play Elks

Here’s some January blues that are actually good for your soul.

Music at the Elks is bringing Juno award winner Jack Semple to Osoyoos for a Jan. 16 performance at the Osoyoos Elks Hall.

The 7:30 p.m. show (doors open at 7 p.m.) is expected to deliver more of the funk and rhythm and blues organizer Earl Krushelnicki pioneered at the hall in 2019.

Mr. Semple, who grew up on a Saskatchewan farm, has a storied blues career that has earned him numerous accolades.

In 1992, Mr. Semple came to national prominence through winning the MuchMusic “Guitar Wars” contest.

He won a Juno award in 1991 for best roots recording and was twice nominated, in 1999 and 2000, for Gemini awards for his soundtrack work on the television series Incredible Story Studio.

He has also won two Western Canadian music awards.

He now performs as a solo artist and with The Jack Semple Band.

Tickets to the Jan. 16 show are $25 and available at Mills Office Pro in Osoyoos or by calling Ken at 250-495-3936.
