Yokohama (Japan), July 25 (EFE) .- The Japanese team defeated Canada 1-0 in an extra innings this Sunday to advance to the final of the softball tournament of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, in which they will play the gold medalist USA.
The victory allowed Japan to reach the first round against the Americans with four wins in a single match.
At the end of the eighth chapter the Japanese were victorious. Yu Yamamoto made a sacrifice to advance to third place for Minori Naito, replacing him with pinch runner Hitomi Kawabata.
Eri Yamada hit a single first center field and the Canadians tended to send Kawabata 1-0 to the plate on the scoreboard.
Canada have two wins and the same number of defeats in the bronze medal match, in which they will face Australia, Italy or Mexico.
Another key factor in Japan’s victory was the relief of winning pitcher Miyu Koto, who threw in the seventh and eighth innings in which he knocked down all six of his opponents. The loser is Daniel Larry.
In the fifth inning, Canada missed the chance to open the scoring. Jen Saling started the set with a double to center, with Sarah Cronwegan scoring an out-for-one win, however pitcher Yukiko Uno knocked out her next two opponents.
He allowed four wins in six innings of work and hit four opponents without allowing a touchdown.
Top Japanese hitter Eri Yamada went 3-3 with a Reserve Bank.
