Broncos Project 2022: Denver picks defensive end Matt Henningsen of Wisconsin in the sixth round

Denver Broncos Select Wisconsin defensive team, Matt Henningsen, with their 206th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft

He’s a 6’3″ and 289-pound defensive lineman outside of Wisconsin and now brings his talents to the Denver Broncos. He is the second defensive lineman selected by the Broncos on day three of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Here’s what Dane Brugler has to say about the newly drafted Broncos.

Matt Henningsen earned First Team All-State Honors for both offensive and defensive lines at Menomonee Falls High. A two-star cast, he received offers from several MAC and FCS shows, but his dream was to attend Wisconsin (like his parents and three older brothers) and he agreed to attend immediately. He got his scholarship a few weeks into the 2018 season and has been an important part of the defensive line for the past four years, playing a finish in the Badgers 3-4 base chart. Henningsen, who was a Freak roster member for Bruce Feldman, moves sideways well and uses his height to open gaps, but is unpolished as a passing striker and needs to play with better control once he’s engaged. Scouts and coaches praise his intelligence (NFL Scout: “This kid is like Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting.”). Overall, Henningsen’s impact on the field leaves you wanting more, but the combination of size, fitness and acumen is easy to sell out in later rounds or as a priority free agent.

Welcome to Bronco!
