RCMP have arrested two people they believe are responsible for a fire that damaged a washroom facility within the service building at Gyro Beach January 29.
The two people, an unnamed 21-year-old male and a 19-year-old female, are scheduled to appear in court on March 9. Osoyoos RCMP are recommending charges for both Mischief Over $5,000 and Arson.
Osoyoos RCMP responded to the building fire around 7 a.m. January 29 along with members of the Osoyoos Fire Department. Officers discovered spray-painted graffiti near the public washrooms and concession area.
The fire, localized in the men’s washroom, caused a significant amount of smoke damage. The building has remained closed since as the Town of Osoyoos manages its cleanup.
