Braeden Tuck scored twice and Carter Shannon added a goal and an assist as the Osoyoos Coyotes completed a home-and-home sweep of the Kelowna Chiefs with a 4-3 victory at the Sun Bowl Saturday evening.
The victory comes on the heels of a 4-0 win at Rutland Arena in Kelowna the previous evening. In that game, the Chiefs managed just 14 shots on Coyotes netminder Stephen Heslop. Saturday, Heslop was a little busier, facing 32 shots.
The Coyotes responded with 42 shots of their own.
The Chiefs opened the scoring just over eight minutes into the first frame on a Brody Dale goal. Austin Cleaver scored at 14:41 to bring the Coyotes even.
The Chiefs regained the lead 3:35 into the second period before Tuck scored midway through the frame and Shannon gave the home side the lead two minutes later.
Tuck’s second goal four minutes into the final frame padded the Coyotes lead at 4-2 and would prove to be the game winner. the Chiefs’ Luke Kaleniuk scored an unassisted goal with just under four minutes remaining to round out the scoring.
The Coyotes improved to 33-9-1-1 and increased their Okanagan division lead over the idle Summerland Steam to 12 points. The Steam play in Kelowna this evening.
The Coyotes will travel to Summerland next Friday before returning to the Sun Bowl Saturday evening to host the Princeton Posse.
