Spanish tennis players Roberto Batista and Sarah Soribes will face Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman and Czech Caterina Siniakova in the quarter-finals of the ATP and WTA for the 1,000-in Toronto and Montreal tournaments on Thursday.

Batista dramatically turned his fortunes in the nearly three-hour battle in which he had to save three match balls. The fight between the players allowed the Spaniard to add his second win in the Canadian event and regain the lost confidence in Kidspohel and Gistot.

Castellin, who resigned from the Olympics, has been out of track in recent weeks, doing so against Schwartzman, who has raised the epic and frenzied competition that inspires Poutista. The Spanish beat the American (6-3, 3-6, 7-5) and will face the American Reilly Opelka in the quarterfinals.
