El Niயo Deorio, Santo Domingo.- The Canadian team made their debut this Monday by beating Puerto Rico in three sets zero (25-17, 25-16 and 25-18) in the first leg of the opening match on Monday. XVIII Pan American Cup Women’s Volleyball, which takes place at the Ricardo-Gioriver-Arias Volleyball Palace.
The winners’ offensive attack was scored by Nietohole Trokeboom with 15 points, followed by Hillary Howe with 10 points.
This is the first victory for the Canadian team, with Puerto Rico already having an unbeaten defeat.
Due to the loss, Gabriel Alicia was the top scorer with nine goals, while Ida Isabel Bouza was the top scorer with six goals.
From the first set, the winning team imposed its playing rhythm with attack and defense.
An important aspect that contributed in favor of Canadians was the area defense (blocking) that they dominated their rivals.

Six teams from the Central Region yesterday began the process of qualifying for the Cash Cup for the Pan American Games in Chile 2023.
The opening round consists of three matches each day at 15:00, 17:00 and 19:00. The match for the semi-finals and fifth place will be held on Saturday 18 and two matches for medals will be held on Sunday 19 at 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
