“Shang-C and Legend of the Ten Rings” with Marvel’s first Asian superhero, led the box office for the second week in a row in the US and Canada, raising $ 34 million, the special site exhibition relations said Monday.
Set in China, a fantasy film about giant creatures, magic and kung fu, the film grossed $ 144.5 million in North American theaters.
It is the first film from Marvel Studios to feature a cast of Chinese-Canadian-led Asian stars.
20th Century Action Comedy “Free Guy” came in second with a performance of Ryan Reynolds, grossing $ 5.6 million at the box office over the weekend.
Third place went to $ 5.4 million for one of the first screenings of this week, the horror film “Maligno”.
In fourth place is a remake of the famous 1992 horror film Universal’s “Candyman”. It grossed $ 4.7 million this weekend and amassed $ 48 million at the box office in the US and Canada.
“Jungle Cruise”, a Disney adventure film inspired by Disney parks, peaked at $ 5.3 million.
