Canada is in Group A with South Africa, Hong Kong and Mexico in the HSBC Canada Sevens tournament in Edmonton this weekend.
The Canadians will take sixth place in Vancouver on Sunday as South Africa return to win the HSBC World Rugby Seven Series after a long hiatus due to an epidemic. Blitzbox beat Kenya 38-5 in the final at PC Place.
In Vancouver, Canada defeated Germany 24-5 and Chile 19-14, losing 29-19 to the United States. 26-7. By the United States in the competition to determine the fifth place.
South Africa recorded 38 attempts in Vancouver, of which Angelo Davids was responsible for 10 places, becoming the first player to score 10 attempts in a series event in 2017 in Cape Town after France’s Thierry Bravo.

Davids misses the Edmonton event because he returned to South Africa after a scan revealed a broken arm. Sylvain Davids will replace him.
Hong Kong is ranked 7th in Vancouver and Mexico 12th.
Edmonton formed Group B in Kenya, the United States, Spain and Chile, as well as Great Britain, Ireland, Germany and Jamaica.
The Vancouver and Edmonton events also feature four-team women’s tournaments that will serve as the 2021 World Championship season.
Only seven of the men’s top teams are taking part in the Canadian events with New Zealand. Those missing due to epidemic-related travel restrictions include Fiji, Australia, Argentina, Japan, France and Samoa.
Teams from Chile, Germany, Hong Kong, Jamaica and Mexico have been invited. The latest additions to the Mexican men’s and women’s teams came after France withdrew due to travel issues.
In Vancouver, the Mexican won 0-5-0, 252-7. The Mexican women lost all five matches, winning 231-0.
“Fast Four”
There are only four teams in the women’s tournament: Canada, Great Britain, USA and Mexico.
The teams will play each other before the first two teams decide the gold in the “Fast Four” format, with the other two teams meeting in third place.
Great Britain won the women’s race in Vancouver, beating the United States 34-12 in the final. Two Canadians finished third, beating Mexico 48-0.
Former Canada captain Kelly Russell will coach women at Canadian events.
Canadian Rugby is bringing young teams to the Canadian Championship after many retirees and athletes left following the Tokyo Olympics.
The 2022 World Championship season will kick off in Dubai again with joint events. The first, November 26-27, will take place behind closed doors, and the second, December 3-4, will see the crowd at Sevens Stadium.
The full 2022 schedule will be announced later, considering “alternative host options” for switching events in Australia and New Zealand in January.
Attendance at the Edmonton Commonwealth Stadium is low due to Govt ethics. Rugby Canada offers a lower half cup with a capacity of 32,000 and can increase it up to 60 percent if needed.
Last season, the men competed in six of the scheduled 10 matches and five of the eight matches were stopped after the Canadian Sevens Championship in Vancouver in March 2020. Scheduled for early May last year. It was one of those canceled matches.
